Quite an interesting reading this weekend from POLITIK. Dr Anthony Smith talks about “one major problem – human bias”. It is not one major problem but the ultimate problem even as the resources are available in abundance to overcome this human bias. Does this problem persist due to lack of will power, human inability or conscientious prejudice?
It was during the days of my masters (Strategic Studies) at the Victoria University of Wellington in 2008 when I came across Psychology of Intelligence Analysis as a recommended text for one of the courses. In the weeks to follow I was surprised to find how more than half of the class at one time or the other would not miss an opportunity to come up with something against the Psychology of Intelligence Analysis.
This is the state of human bias. If you are not able to rise above your biases in a class room environment then it is very much doubtful you would ever do in a work environment.
